Group Facilitation

In general the facilitator acts as a trusted and neutral outside voice, making decisions about the process the group goes through but allowing the group to focus on and control the content of the discussion.

  1. In group work, the facilitator works with a group of people to help them have a conversation, come to agreement, or plan for the future.
  2. The facilitator is a gentle guide, making it easier for the group to have discussion(s)in a safe, neutral and negotiated confidential environment.
  3. The role of group facilitation is to try and facilitate what is happening in the here and now, and observe and share the unspoken.

Group facilitation can be useful in work disputes, low morale, staff need to vent of steam in an safe environment; critical incidents.
